83 Percent of Christians do not Believe Jesus Christ was Born on December 25th

Austin, Texas (December 23, 2012)  – King James Bible Online (www.kingjamesbibleonline.org), a website inviting its visitors to read the Bible online, released a report today about “What Do Christians Really Believe About Christmas.” The report summarizes four separate polls about Christmas, conducted in December 2012 from a King James Bible Facebook page of 110,000 users. The complete results with charts and graphics are available on kingjamesonline.org.

The first poll, “Do you think Christians should celebrate Christmas?” resulted in 71 percent marking “Yes”, 25 percent marking “No”, and two percent marking “Not sure.” The number polled was 134.

The second poll was, “Do you believe December 25th is the true day that Jesus Christ was born?” Of the 251 people polled, 83 percent marked “No,” followed by 11 percent who marked “Yes,” and six percent marked “Not sure.”

The third poll, “Do you think it’s OK to let kids believe in Santa Claus?” resulted in the majority (64 percent) marking “Definitely not, it’s a lie,” followed by 28 percent marking “Yes, it’s just for fun,” and six percent chose “Neutral / no opinion,” two percent chose “I think so,” and finally one percent marked, “Maybe not.” The number polled was 189.

The final poll question was, “Do you think it’s OK to have a Christmas tree in a church building?” Of the 186 respondents, 58 percent marked “Yes,” with 39 percent marking “No,” and three percent marking “Not sure / it depends.”

Demographics of those polled were as follows:

• 100 percent ‘liked’ the King James Bible Facebook page
• 96 percent reported they are Christians
• 82 percent reported they have been a Christian for more than 10 years
• 79 percent reported having read the entire Bible at least once. Females in the group make up
• 59.5 percent female , 40.1 percent male
• 65 percent of the users live in the United States
