Fifty-Five Percent of Local Business Owners Report Increase In Full-Time Hiring

Increases in business revenue and net profits boost Austin economy

AUSTIN, December 6, 2012 – Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global network of entrepreneurs, today announced that 55 percent of Austin-area business owners have increased their number of full-time employees during the past six months, according to the Global Entrepreneur Indicator survey developed by EO. In addition, 59 percent of entrepreneurs worldwide have increased the number of their full-time employees during the past six months.
 
Austin-area entrepreneurs have also increased net profits by 69 percent and business revenue by 76 percent in the past six months, which has a significant impact on the Austin economy. Globally, entrepreneurs have increased net profits by 60 percent and business revenue by 68 percent in the past six months.
 
“Austin’s economy is steadily growing and strongly supported by entrepreneurs,” said Yuen Yung, CEO of How Do You Roll? and president of EO Austin. “We have confidence businesses will continue to prosper and more job opportunities will be available.”
 
The survey also found that 51 percent of Austin-area entrepreneurs had an increase in the number of part-time or contract employees in the past six months, compared with 50 percent of entrepreneurs worldwide.
