Two Weeks of Holiday Programming for the Whole Family
Toronto, Ontario – – Get into the holiday spirit with ROM for the Holidays; two weeks of special programming at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM). From Thursday December 26, 2012 to Sunday January 6, 2013, this year’s Palaeo World family programming delivers a first-hand exploration of the wonderful species that live-and have lived-on our planet.
Palaeo World; is filled with dinosaurs, fossils, and prehistoric mammals; volcanoes, massive meteorites, and more. Have fun with prehistoric activities and crafts, get hands-on with remarkable fossils, and meet our dino mascots.
The Museum is open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on December 26, 2012 and January 6, 2013. From December 27, 2012 to January 5, 2013, the Museum is open for extended hours from 10:00 am until 8:30 pm everyday with discounted admission after 4:30 pm. Extended hours are made possible through the generous support of Sun Life Financial.

All ROM for the Holidays programming and activities take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, and are included with general admission. Discounted admission (Adults-$9.00; Students/Seniors- $8.00; Children-$6.00) is available every day after 4:30 pm.
Dino Activity Zone
Make prehistoric headdresses in the form of dinosaurs, saber-toothed cats, and creatures of the Burgess Shale. Add your own personal touch to the prehistoric mural created with
animal coloring sheets. Get creative and make your own dinosaur, combining all your favourite dino parts to come up the ultimate dino! Afterwards, make sure to hang out in the Dino Dan Lounge for screenings of this award winning kids TV show, colouring activities and more. From December 28 to December 30, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, the SONY Photo Station offers visitors the chance to take away mementoes of themselves as dinosaurs.
From Dinosaurs to Birds
Discover the evolution of birds from their small dinosaur ancestors to our feathered friends today. Learn about the evolution of feathers, wings and flight and gain a whole new perspective on the birds we see around us. Get hands on with bird and dinosaur fossils from common birds we’re familiar with to the archeopteryx of the past.
Learn about the incredible natural disasters that have shaped Earth’s history. Get up close with meteorites, volcanic rocks and fossils that helped shape our extraordinary past.
Take part in a prehistoric scavenger hunt and explore the age of dinosaurs, the Burgess Shale, prehistoric mammals, and the great extinction events of our past. Along the way you’ll find engaging touch tables filled with incredible specimens and fossils. Dino Prints, allows you to compare your footprints to those of your prehistoric friends.
From December 27 to January 5, Earth Rangers are back with their popular Bring Back the Wild Holiday Show, featuring live animal ambassadors! Kids will love meeting Timber the Pine Marten, Koho the Bald Eagle, and more. The show runs December 27 to January 5 at 1:00, 3:00, and 5:00 pm, and is included with Museum admission.
The ROM’s Executive Chef Corbin Tomaszeski, renowned food expert and television host, has created menus for a special dino-themed holiday experience featured in the Museum’s c5 Restaurant Lounge and Food Studio Café.
Family-friendly Food Studio Café offers dino-themed menu items and holiday cookies and sweets for the season. c5 Restaurant Lounge-,serving thoughtful, elegant world cuisine atop the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, hosts a Festive Buffet Brunch featuring a hot carving station, daily quiche, baked pasta and more. The Festive Sunday Brunch is available December 2, 9, 16, and 23 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.
