Having a spouse checking in and out of hospital can be traumatic for both caregiver and patient. Thanks to Palliative Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers.

Ipoh, Malaysia - November 24th, 2012 –– Chin M. C. the caregiver spouse, has drawn on his  experience of taking care of his late wife, to write a FREE eBook that helps ease the journey for both caregivers and patients. Aptly called “Cancer Pain – Who Should Care ?” the accurately documented eBook is based on his  observations while taking care of his late wife, Suit Lee, and how she coped with her frequent  hospital visits.

His late wife lost her life to cancer about 5 months ago, was diagnosed with Liver Tumour called Metastatic Neuroendocrine Carcinoma –  an extremely rare disease. The condition caused the rapid growth of a large benign mass/tumour in the Liver.

As a result, Chin M. C. had to take care of his late wife while she went through once a month follow up palliative treatments in a hospital 3 ˝ hour drive from their hometown. Over a three year period, she went through two colorectal operations, three 6 mthly CT scanning, and 5 session of whole brain radiation.

Through this experience, Chin M. C. was able to observe different hospitals, their facilities and depth of care. He became increasingly adept at preparing his late wife for her next visit and all the ensuing treatments. He had to learn very quickly how to cope, how best to love and protect his late wife in this new environment and how to work alongside all the medical doctors and nurses.

In essence, it is a lifeline and timely survival guide for caregivers having to take care of their loved one’s  medical treatments and hospitalisation. It is also a helpful resource for caregiving centres and for any families with loved ones fighting against cancer.

You never know when you’ll end up in hospital with your loved ones  and in a time of uncertainty, stress and possible trauma, it’s so important to be prepared, calm and in control.
