QuantumDirect Increases Color Profits, Productivity and Customers with Five Xerox iGen3 Digital Presses

AUSTIN, Texas, and ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 12, 2006 -- QuantumDirect Inc. is expanding its customer base, increasing productivity and eclipsing profit goals using five Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) iGen3™ 110 Digital Production Presses.

A leading direct marketing services provider, QuantumDirect installed a 110-page-per-minute iGen3 110 press in June. Previously, the company installed two 100-page-per-minute Xerox iGen3 presses in 2004 and two more in 2005. QuantumDirect has seen 70 percent growth in its overall business each of the last two years, and according to the company, it is poised for double-digit growth in 2006.

QuantumDirect averages more than 5.5 million pages a month on its first four digital color presses, at times printing more than 2 million pages a month on a single machine. The company experienced a 68 percent growth in total print volume in 2005 and forecasts at least a similar increase in 2006.

“We need to be a step ahead of what our customers demand, keep costs down, and increase our print capacity to keep up with explosive growth,” said Steve Damman, CEO and president, QuantumDirect. “We are able to do this with the Xerox iGen3 press’ ability to produce high-quality, full-color jobs better, quicker and more economically for our clients.”

For 20 years QuantumDirect has produced direct-mail pieces for the real estate industry through their and Web sites. These pieces include QuantumCards - 5½“ x 8½” full-color, personalized postcards - that have become the company’s marquee offering.

Over the past decade, growing customer demand has generated a sharp increase in print volume, forcing QuantumDirect to look for technologies that increase productivity without boosting costs. A Xerox customer since 1993, QuantumDirect has been upgrading its products to accommodate this growth - including three Xerox DocuColor™ 2060 Digital Color Presses Digital Color Presses, four DocuColor 6060 Digital Color Presses, and now five Xerox iGen3 presses.

According to Damman, the Xerox iGen3 press’ productivity has allowed the company to successfully serve existing real estate clients - such as RE/MAX and Weichert Realtors - and expand into new markets, such as financial, manufacturing, franchising and home remodeling.

In addition to postcards, QuantumDirect produces many other applications on its Xerox iGen3 digital presses, including brochures, fliers, catalogs and door hangers, all printed on-demand with 24-hour turnaround times. According to Damman, the iGen3 digital presses deliver the productivity and image quality to meet this demand. “Our core competencies in technology and development have enabled us to broaden our product and service offerings as a marketing technology company,” said Damman.

Print runs range from 20 pieces to more than 100,000 pieces, and nearly all orders are placed over the Internet using the company’s automated Web-to-print digital workflow technology. According to Damman, this allows the company to keep costs down while maximizing productivity.

By using the Web, national corporate clients can integrate and protect their branding standards with personalized options for local agents and affiliates. For example, a real estate agent can create a direct-mail piece with an approved corporate template to take advantage of brand notoriety, but tailor the content and images to a specific local housing market.

Carpenter Realtors, with 28 locations and 760 agents in central Indiana, has taken advantage of QuantumDirect’s efficiency. “We needed a vendor to expedite direct-mail pieces with a quick turnaround and high quality,” says Eric Hopp, principal, Carpenter Realtors. “QuantumDirect’s product stands out in the marketplace. They’ve enabled us to get our brand awareness out, while giving our agents the help they need to build their individual practices.”

QuantumDirect is also working with a leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment, where dealers access and customize brochures and direct-mail pieces targeting specific customers and promoting special offers.

The company uses variable data technology to develop customized print jobs and tailor information to individual interests and preferences. It also uses Creo Inc. color servers on its Xerox iGen3 presses because they are suited to the company’s existing digital workflow and were used on its previous Xerox products.
