Sabre Begins Distributing US Airways ChoiceSeats
Phased U.S. implementation to be complete by mid November; global rollout done by end of the month
SOUTHLAKE, Texas – Sabre Travel Network announced today it has begun offering US Airways’ ChoiceSeats in the Sabre global distribution system (GDS).
Sabre is the first GDS to allow travelers to reserve and purchase US Airway’s ChoiceSeats. Sabre’s GDS merchandising solutions provide airlines the ability to increase revenues by selling their ancillary products and services to the largest global audience.
The airline’s ChoiceSeats will be available to Sabre-connected travel agents during a phased implementation with the rollout complete by the end of this month.
US Airways offers ChoiceSeats, which are located on the aisle, next to a window and toward the front of the coach cabin, for an additional fee. ChoiceSeats also provides passengers early boarding privileges.
“We worked closely with US Airways to meet their technology needs and we’re very pleased that we’re able to provide the airline the ability to sell their premium seats to the global audience the Sabre marketplace provides,” said Shelly Terry, vice president, Supplier Merchandising for Sabre Travel Network. “It was also
important for us to meet the needs of travel agents by offering the airlines’ ChoiceSeats in a way that maintains their efficient agent workflow.”
Airlines worldwide use Sabre’s Air Extras to sell ancillary products and services including premium seating, lounge access and checked bags in the Sabre GDS. Airlines can tailor their ancillaries and fares to individual customers using the Sabre GDS.
