Progress Debt Recovery features on BBC Radio Lancashire

WEBWIRE

Lancashire based Progress Debt Recovery has been featured on BBC Radio Lancashire on the Sally Naden Show which was broadcast live on Friday 26th October at 11am

Patrick Crossley, business development manager at Progress, was invited to sit on the guest panel to discuss the role of debt recovery in today’s economic climate.

Sally and Patrick discussed the difference between business to business and business to consumer debt recovery and the importance of managing debt in helping companies maintain a positive cash flow. Patrick went into detail explaining how debt recovery companies work and the various solutions they provide over and above debt recovery such as cash flow management and credit control services and the fees that are charged for successfully recovering debt.

Patrick was particularly sympathetic to both the clients of Progress Debt Recovery and also the debtors and explained that the role was far more than debt recovery and was in fact a role of negotiation and mediation to ensure that the best recovery outcome is achieved. The problem of image within the debt recovery industry was also discussed and Patrick explained that over the years he had been punched many times whilst carrying out his duties, Patrick also lightened the mood by discussing some of the more amusing excuses that debtors had given to the reason they had not managed to pay down a debt, including one debtor who said he couldn’t pay because his “debit card was in the fridge” when asked about personal security, Patrick answered  that he doesn’t carry a baseball bat or have dogs with him in his blacked out van.

The subject of debt recovery was chosen for the radio show following the recent news that the UK had now officially emerged from recession to see if this was mirrored in the day to day business world. The full radio show was also available to listen to on the BBC website.
