Joining “The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation” to Boost Semper Fi Fund with $1MM + More

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Go Daddy, a one-stop shop for small businesses to succeed online, and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation are matching all donations, dollar for dollar, to the Semper Fi Fund up to $1 million. They are joining forces to make a profound difference in the lives of the brave men and women injured while serving our country … and they are giving the public simple ways to make a big difference, as well.

The Semper Fi Fund is a non-profit organization set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The Semper Fi Fund provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery, as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs.

The new multifaceted fundraising project was formally announced today by Go Daddy Executive Chairman and Founder Bob Parsons with unprecedented star power. Go Daddy Girl and NASCAR superstar Danica Patrick and her Sprint Cup team owner Tony Stewart flanked Bob and Renee Parsons as the program was outlined from Go Daddy’s headquarters. Also on stage at today’s news conference was the Arizona Veteran’s Hall of Fame Society President Rick Romley, who represented a Go Daddy customer website dedicated to benefiting military veterans.

“We are taking fundraising to support injured members of our military to an all-new level -- we’re making it insanely simple for people to help this vitally important organization,” said Bob Parsons. “Our veterans, from each and every branch of our military, deserve to come home to a support system that reflects how much we appreciate and respect the sacrifice they and their families have made for our country … for all of us. If you can’t give a lot, give a little, no amount is too small … we’ll match it and together we will definitely make a difference.”

Bob Parsons is a decorated war veteran, who joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and a Purple Heart Medal. Thanks to the G.I. Bill, he enrolled into the University of Baltimore. He graduated magna cum laude and founded two successful businesses, one, a multi-million dollar company called Parsons Technology, later sold to Intuit, and the other, a billion-dollar company, GoDaddy.com.

Earlier this year, Parsons and his wife Renee created The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation to inspire hope by providing critical funding at critical times to communities striving to make a difference. “The Semper Fi Fund hits home for us because we know how dedicated our armed forces are,“ said Renee Parsons. ”These men and women are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice ... we believe we owe our veterans the utmost respect and support and we think our fellow Americans will join us in this important cause. It’s a simple process and every donation, large or small matters"

The key to this Semper Fi Fund drive is the variety of easy alternatives for people to participate. Donation options include Go Daddy’s Round Up for Charity program, an initiative where customers “round up” their purchase to the next dollar. The spare change adds up to make a big difference over time. People can also donate directly at GoDaddy.com by clicking Go Daddy’s 8th annual U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Salute, a special tribute to the U.S.M.C.’s 237th birthday.

“Our military veterans and active troops alike have been enjoying Bob’s Marine Corps Birthday video card for years, it’s become part of our tradition,” said Semper Fi Fund President, CEO and Founder Karen Guenther. “What’s so moving about this donation program is its inspirational aspect. This is more than cutting a check and shaking a few hands, this is about rallying people together, making it easy for the entire community to donate what they can and have that amount doubled instantly.” The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation and Go Daddy are teaming up to provide the $1 million match. Bob Parsons said, “We owe our military everything, that’s the way I look at it – Semper Fi!” “Having been severely wounded in combat while in Vietnam, I personally know how important these funds are to wounded soldiers,” said former Maricopa County Attorney Rick Romley, who serves as Executive Advisor for Veterans Heritage Project, a Go Daddy customer. The organization uses its Go Daddy website to help connect veterans with students to share their stories of service. “Matching donations of up to $1 million are going to help more of our wounded soldiers as they return home. I am honored to be here with Bob Parsons and Go Daddy. Both care deeply for those who serve in our military.”

Go Daddy is looking to inspire NASCAR fans, too. Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick is set to drive two cars sporting the matching donation message this weekend in Phoenix. Both Danica’s Nationwide and Sprint Cup Chevys will sport a new logo created to raise awareness about the Semper Fi Fund program.

“These veterans and their families face some challenging circumstances,” said Danica. “I’m fortunate to have a sponsor who, time and time again, demonstrates its caring heart and soul. It feels good to be part of something this special. I can tell you, when Bob and Renee put their minds to something, there’s no stopping them.”

Alongside Danica at today’s news conference was three-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart, who is also Danica’s teammate and co-owner of her Stewart-Haas Racing team.

“NASCAR fans are some of the most patriotic people you will meet,” Stewart said. “I think Danica’s Cup car promoting the matching donations program will not only bring attention to this worthy cause, I think it’s also something fans will rally around. The fact Bob and Renee, along with Go Daddy, initiated this effort to support our brave military veterans says a lot about them and their organizations.”
