SOUTHBURY, CT JULY 11, 2006: — Advanced AFG Risk Services, LLC of Southbury, Connecticut, is pleased to announce the expansion of its product portfolio to include Event Cancellation Insurance. The coverage, which provides protection for associations and organizations who hold events, is available nationwide on a surplus lines basis. Coverage is available for indoor or outdoor conventions, trade shows, and consumer shows being held virtually anywhere in the world.
Perils covered include adverse weather, such as blizzards, floods, tornados, and hurricanes; fire, collapse or destruction of the event site; power failures; and strikes. Additional coverages would include the non-appearance of a key speaker or entertainer, provided the performance was not the principal purpose of the event; failure to vacate the event facility; and physical loss of personal property and door registration receipts. There are three options for coverage for acts of terrorism.
Exclusions include but are not limited to; the financial failure of any venture cancellation due to lack of ticket sales; lack of sponsorship; or the insured’s failure to have made all necessary preliminary arrangements essential to ensure that the event can be held on the scheduled date.
Advanced AFG has assigned a dedicated staff to administer this specialized program. Bob Jeal, formerly with Travelers in Hartford and AIG in London, Toronto, and Boston, heads up the EventShield™ division. “We intend to earn the position as the ‘go-to’ market for this coverage”, Jeal states. “We understand how important a successful event is to this sector.
