Wells Fargo Extends Fee Waivers in Areas Struck by Hurricane Sandy to Nov. 7

WEBWIRE

NEW YORK — Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) said today it has extended certain loan fee waivers to Nov. 7 in areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

“We want our customers in areas hard-hit by the storm to be able to focus solely on their personal and work situations at this critical time,” said Michelle Lee, Northeast regional president for Wells Fargo Community Banking. “There are still many challenges affecting day-to-day living in storm-affected states. Wells Fargo wants to alleviate hardship for our customers so they can focus on getting back on their feet. I want to extend my personal thanks to my Wells Fargo teammates here in the region--and across the nation--for working so hard to be there for our customers during this time.”

Fees waivers extended through Nov. 7
Wells Fargo has extended to Wednesday, Nov. 7 its waiver for the fees it normally charges its customers for using another bank’s ATMs. Wells Fargo will also allow customers with time accounts (CDs) to withdraw funds from these accounts without incurring an early withdrawal penalty. These fee waiver extensions are available in the storm-affected states of New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

Additionally, Wells Fargo is continuing to waive late fees on credit cards, certain small business and consumer loans, including home-equity, auto and student loans until Wednesday, Nov 7. This waiver applies to the states mentioned above, as well as New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and West Virginia.

Store and ATM availability
All Wells Fargo retail banking stores are open in Delaware, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Eighty-eight percent of Wells Fargo’s stores are open in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Just over 90 stores are still closed in parts of New Jersey, New York (Manhattan, Long Island, and Westchester County), coastal Connecticut, and Pennsylvania due to power outages, flooding and structural damage.

Eighty-six percent of the bank’s ATMs are available in the storm-affected states. Less than 300 ATMs are currently unavailable, with machines expected to be brought back online as power and networks are restored. Mobile ATMs have been deployed.
