Downtown Incorporated Brings Santa Ana Community Together to Host Free Pumpkin Patch
First Annual Volunteer-Lead Event Attracts Over Six Hundred People

SANTA ANA, CA – November 1, 2012 – Downtown Incorporated ;(Downtown Inc.) rallied together support from local Santa Ana businesses, volunteer groups, and the community to host its 1st Annual Pumpkin Patch in Downtown Santa Ana.  The free, volunteer-lead event was a huge success, attracting over six hundred people to Downtown Santa Ana to partake in the festivities.

Downtown Inc., the organization dedicated to facilitating the enhancement of Downtown Santa Ana as a vibrant shopping, entertainment, business and cultural destination for all, hosted the event in Downtown Santa Ana’s East End this past Saturday.  Large groups of children and families gathered at the corner of French and Fourth Street to enjoy an afternoon of games, a puppet show, cookie decorating, pumpkins and candy.

“We are extremely grateful to the Santa Ana community for coming together to make this special event a reality,” said Vicky Baxter, Executive Director of Downtown Incorporated.  “It would not have been possible without the generous donations from our local businesses and the volunteers who were busy from start to finish.”

Young, candy-munching visitors were treated to a special show given by a bilingual Puppeteer, whose marionettes told a Halloween story.  The bales of hay, donated by the Gay Neighbors, Families & Friends of Santa Ana (GNFFSA), provided seating for the spectators while kids played in the bounce house and maze.

Volunteers from Downtown Inc., Victory Outreach, EBC, Kidworks, GNFFSA, and local neighborhood residents helped paint faces, take pictures, and color Halloween posters.  IZALCO, one of Downtown Santa Ana’s newest restaurants, brought all of the supplies for the kids to make cookies.  The Edward B. Cole Sr. Academy donated a set of bikes to be gifted to the game winners.

Downtown Inc. has received an overwhelming response of positive feedback from the community and would like to thank all of the business community sponsors and volunteers that made the event a huge success:
