Four New Models Come To Churchfields Dealership

WEBWIRE

Four – yes, four - newly launched models are making their debut at Westover Toyota in Salisbury. The flurry of vehicles includes the sporty GT-86, which has just joined the showroom’s line-up, along with three new part-electric, part-petrol cars – the Yaris Hybrid, the Prius Plug-In and the Prius+.

Each new model is now available to test drive at the Brunel Road dealership.

“It’s really unusual to get four new vehicles all at once – especially four winners like this,” says Steve Johnson, general sales manager at Westover Toyota in Bournemouth and Salisbury. “The GT-86 has had some great reviews and because it’s priced so strongly, coming in at under £25,000, we’re anticipating a really positive response. Toyota has been out of the sports car market for a while, but they’ve got the look, feel and timing of this just right and, if the rave reviews are anything to go by, it promises to be a popular addition to our range.

“We’ve been waiting for the hybrid range to extend – and so have many of our customers. Toyota leads the way in hybrid technology and a part-petrol, part-electric version of the Yaris is sure to be a big hit, especially with people who do shorter journeys and are looking to make some serious savings at the pump. We’ve already fielded a lot of enquiries about the new Yaris and we’re really looking forward to showing it off to customers old and new.

The long-awaited GT-86 has been described by Top Gear as “one of the best driving sports cars of the last decade”. It is Toyota’s fastest accelerating production car and it delivers fun in spades. It has a 2.0 litre, four cylinder engine combined with a light frame, a low centre of gravity and a six speed gear box.

Small and economical, the Yaris Hybrid is the first-ever car of its size to come with full hybrid technology. In electric mode it’s virtually silent and its 1.5 litre engine delivers emissions far below the 100g/km free road tax threshold – in fact, it has the lowest CO2 rating of any new non-electric car. Looking and feeling like a conventional car, the Yaris Hybrid has three driving modes – normal, eco and EV (purely electric) and can deliver fuel economy of just over 80 mpg. As with original Prius technology, the car’s battery is charged when the engine is running.

The new Prius Plug-In is part electric, part hybrid, meaning it comes with all the benefits of a standard Prius and then some. It has a 1.8 litre petrol engine, as well as a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which can be recharged from a domestic supply or an on-street charging point. No need for any range anxiety – if the battery runs out of power, the car will simply switch to petrol mode.

The Prius+ is a larger version of its original hybrid stable-mate, able to seat seven comfortably.
