AT&T today announced that its U-verse® Easy Remote app was named “Best Innovation in Consumer Viewing Experiences” and its U-verse Wireless Receiver was named the winner for “Service Provider Innovation” in the fifth annual TelcoTV Vision Awards. Winners were announced at TelcoTV, the largest conference and expo focused on the U.S. broadband service provider market, taking place this week in Las Vegas.

The AT&T U-verse Easy Remote and Wireless Receiver are two of the industry’s most revolutionary enhancements to the TV watching experience. The U-verse Easy Remote app makes it easier for U-verse customers, including those with disabilities such as vision and hearing loss, to control their TV easily with their iPhone or iPad. AT&T U-verse is the first major TV provider to allow customers to use voice remote control capabilities. The app was built with a commitment to universal design and is optimized to give all users access to features to control the TV, including multiple screen color, button and font size choices, gesture commands, iPhone’s VoiceOver screen reader and more. The AT&T U-verse Wireless Receiver is the first fully-integrated wireless receiver available from any major TV provider, and gives U-verse TV customers even more freedom to watch TV when and where they want it, including rooms without an existing U-verse outlet. Many AT&T U-verse customers already enjoy the freedom the Wireless Receiver provides. In fact, nearly one-third of installations in the first two quarters of 2012 included a Wireless Receiver, resulting in a faster set-up process for customers and U-verse technicians. You may view a demo of the U-verse Wireless Receiver here.

The TelcoTV Vision Awards recognize companies that are leaders in driving innovation in the broadband service provider industry. The awards program includes a wide range of categories and was open to all members of the industry’s ecosystem. All submissions were reviewed by an independent panel of distinguished judges, comprised of the industry’s leading analysts and executives.

“We are elated to receive such prestigious recognition within our industry,” said Maria Dillard, Vice President, U-verse and Video Products, AT&T Home Solutions. “These two TelcoTV awards remind us that we’re doing what we’ve committed to do– deliver the best innovation to our customers for a better TV experience.”

“TelcoTV Vision Award winners are among the industry’s leading video service providers, technology manufactures and equipment vendors,” said Carolyn Herr, Show Director, TelcoTV. “AT&T U-verse has demonstrated outstanding innovation and leadership with their Easy Remote and Wireless Receiver and we congratulate them on winning the top honors in this year’s awards.”
