Dr. Daniel McManus, a Newnan dentist, volunteered for the Georgia Baptist Convention Mobile Dental Health Ministry on Friday, October 12th. The mission of the Baptist Mobile Health Ministry is to help provide caring health service and Christian witness to the underserved persons of Georgia. The Mobile Dental Ministry operates in a 40 foot long RV equipped with dental chairs, x-ray machines and other medical equipment. All dentists who participate in the ministry volunteer their time and expertise to help. Dental screenings and dental services are provided to uninsured residents who are 10 and older.

The October ministry was sponsored by the First Baptist Church in Moreland, Georgia. This is the third year that Dr. McManus has volunteered for the mobile dental ministry. Dr. Dan spent a day in the mobile clinic performing fillings and extractions for approximately 25 patients.

In addition to the mobile dental volunteer duties, Dr. McManus has served in dental ministries far from home. Dr. McManus spent 5 days providing dental services in Romania. Over those 5 days, Dr. Dan and the supporting team traveled to a different village every day. Dealing without electricity or running water, the team worked outdoors or worked inside church buildings. In spite of the challenging conditions, Dr. McManus performed 700+ extractions.
