Order volume approximately EUR450 million.

Erlangen, Jul 7, 2006, Siemens Power Generation (PG) is constructing a turnkey combined cycle power plant in Irsching, in Bavaria, Germany. The order was placed by Gemeinschaftskraftwerk Irsching GmbH, a company jointly owned by power supply company E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH, Hanover, which holds a 60 percent stake, and the two multi-utility companies N-ERGIE AG, Nuremberg and Mainova AG, Frankfurt, which have 25 percent and 15 percent holdings respectively. The order includes a long-term maintenance contract for the plant. The combined cycle power plant will have a capacity of 800 megawatts (MW), sufficient to provide a cost-effective and environmentally compatible power supply for a city the size of Cologne with nearly one million inhabitants. The order volume is approximately EUR450 million.

Siemens PG is building the new natural gas-fired power plant on the site of an existing power plant in Irsching near Ingolstadt. The company is supplying the gas and steam turbines, the generators, the complete mechanical engineering with heat recovery steam generator and the electrical and control systems. The “Irsching 5” plant is scheduled to go into service at the end of 2008.

“This order underscores our cooperation as partners with E.ON,” stated Klaus Voges, president of the Siemens Power Generation Group yesterday at the laying of the cornerstone for E.ON’s new 800-MW combined cycle power plant that Siemens is constructing in the northern Italian town of Livorno-Ferraris between Turin and Milan. In Irsching, Siemens PG is currently building a prototype plant for the world’s largest and most powerful gas turbine. After successful trial operation, it will be developed into a high-efficiency combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 530 MW and handed over to E.ON. The company also is constructing the largest biomass-fired power plant in the United Kingdom for E.ON UK in Lockerbie, Scotland.

“Irsching 5 is already the fourth order for construction of a turnkey combined cycle power plant that we’ve booked in Germany since May 2005,” said Voges. “This latest success emphasizes our leading position in the largest power plant market in Europe.”

The Power Generation Group (PG) of Siemens AG is one of the premier companies in the international power generation sector. In fiscal 2005 (which ended September 30), Siemens PG posted sales amounting to approximately EUR8.1 billion and received new orders totaling EUR11 billion. Group profit amounted to EUR951 million. On September 30, 2005, PG had a work force of approximately 33,500 worldwide. Further information at: www.siemens.com/powergeneration.
