Parity champions nearshore outsourcing as a flexible alternative to traditional offshore model

WEBWIRE

With the industry analysts such as IDC predicting that business process outsourcing (BPO http://www.parity.net/solutions/solutions/bpo/default.aspx) market will grow at a 5 year compound annual growth rate of 23% to reach $1.7 billion by 2010, the ability to provide an offshore or nearshore development capability is essential for IT Solutions providers to take advantage of this area.

Following on from several high value contract wins worth over £11 million in total for applications development and applications management projects, Parity highlighted the importance of having a flexible nearshore software development and support capability to win and service clients.

Alwyn Welch, Chief Executive of the Parity Group acknowledged the key role that Parity’s Northern Ireland team played in securing the business:

“Our Antrim operation’s contribution to these wins was very important and will be matched by our continued investment in the area. Many firms are choosing to ‘offshore’ IT services to countries in South Asia and Eastern Europe. However I’m delighted to say that we are able to use our strong and well established operation in Ireland as a competitive and credible alternative. We intend to deliver more work, and thereby create and sustain more jobs in Northern Ireland (http://www.parity.net/about_parity/media/news/ParityGrowIrelandOperations.aspx ) in the next year from clients on the mainland and locally.”

Parity Ireland’s (http://www.parity.net/ireland ) core software development and applications management expertise is centred in Antrim where the majority of the 55 local staff are based, although there is also a Belfast office which provides training consultancy as well as managing Parity’s highly successful Première Graduate development programme.

The clients benefiting from the technological expertise and high quality service from the Parity’s Northern Ireland operations range from blue chip companies such as British American Tobacco (BAT), to large public sector organisations including The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and The Cabinet Office.
