Clean Sweep UK Lends a Helping hand in Annual Clean of Blackpool Tower

2012 marks a special year for Blackpool with the Illuminations marking its centenary public display. Between the 31st of August and the 4th of November the seaside city continues to buzz with excitement and laughter long after other resorts have gone into hibernation.

At 10km long and using over one million bulbs the Blackpool Illuminations are a breathtaking spectacle. The event includes every kind of light display you can imagine, from lasers and light bulbs to optics and floodlighting, each illuminating the pavilions landmarks in luminous detail before reaching the famous tower.
In preparation for the event, with thousands of visitors expected over the next few months, the annual meticulous and painstaking clean-up of the Blackpool tower was carried out by industrial cleaning expert Clean Sweep Hire.

Since opening in 1894 Blackpool Tower has always attracted thousands of visitors and as a grade one listed building, its many attractions require regular attention and cleaning.

Although famous for its ballroom, the tower has so much more to offer including a circus, an indoor adventure playground and the Tower Eye, all of which need to be cleaned regularly to ensure they are safe and presentable.

The clean-up process is a momentous task and required Clean Sweep Hire to use a variety of industrial cleaning tools and equipment for each attraction as they worked their way up the Tower.

It was a unique and difficult job with much of the century year old flooring still intact and so it required our best machines throughout each process including escalator cleaners, scrubber drivers, commercial vacuums and carpet extractors. It was a long process which had to be taken with the up most care however I think the place looks just as spectacular as it did when it opened.”

With Blackpool Illuminations now in full swing the crowds will continue to pour in to the Tower, and fortunately the effective cleaning job has ensured the floors throughout will be as gleaming as the famous lights along the promenade.
