NEW YORK – October 5, 2012 – The Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards ;(GSEA), the world’s premier competition for students running revenue-generating businesses, will for the fourth consecutive year partner with Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an initiative powered by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation . During GEW’s weeklong celebration of entrepreneurship in 125 countries, the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s GSEA sixth Global Finals will be a featured event, showcasing the talent of student business owners from around the world at the New York Stock Exchange, November 14-16, 2012.

“We are proud to partner with programs that drive the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders,” said Thom Ruhe, president of Entrepreneurship at the Kauffman Foundation. “In recognizing real-world entrepreneurial achievement, EO’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards represents the Foundation’s vision for advancing the entrepreneurial spirit.”

The Kauffman Foundation’s continued support of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s GSEA complements the decade-long partnership the Kauffman Foundation has with EO. The Global Finals brings together some of the most innovative students from around the world. This offers a unique opportunity for education and mentorship that can fast-track these future entrepreneurial leaders to the next level of business success.

“The Kauffman Foundation and the Entrepreneurs’ Organization share an understanding of the impact entrepreneurs can have in growing and transforming the global economy,” said Samer Kurdi, chairman of the Global Board of Directors for the Entrepreneur’s Organization. “The student entrepreneurs in our program are generating jobs for their classmates, resourcing local vendors, and in some cases addressing global social challenges. Being a featured event of GEW highlights the power these students bring to their communities.”

The Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, founded in 1998, is underway in more than 23 countries around the world, from Malaysia to Ghana. Last year, the program received over 1,600 applicants. By November, 30 of the world’s top student entrepreneurs will have been selected to compete in New York City for $150,000 in cash and in-kind services that will help to propel their dorm-room venture into a successful business.

There is still time to apply to many regional competitions for a chance at Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s GSEA Global Finals. For more information about the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s GSEA or find application information, visit http://www.gsea.org/.

About the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur Awards
As the premier global competition for undergraduate student business owners, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) inspire students to adopt entrepreneurial endeavors by bringing global visibility to student business owners who are innovative, profitable and socially responsible. Since 1998, the GSEA, a program founded at the John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University, has honored outstanding students who juggle a full course load while running their own businesses. The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) took on leadership of the GSEA in 2006 to offer student entrepreneurs access to a global network of mentors, resources and connections from the most influential community of entrepreneurs in the world. The GSEA is generously supported by major foundations, including the NYSE Euronext Foundation the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Ernst & Young and the Be Great Organization.
