IAMTN‘s Task Force in Osaka

Remittances Summit

WEBWIRE

As every year the International Association of Money Transfer Networks (IAMTN) is inviting money transfer professionals from all over the world to the major event of the industry - the Global Money Transfer Summit. This year’s London Summit will take place on 7th & 8th November 2012 at London Hilton Docklands Riverside.

The International Association of International Money Transfer Networks (IAMTN) has established a Task Force to tackle the key issues in relation to difficulties that its members are experiencing in being able to open or maintain bank accounts for their own business needs.  The decision was taken at a meeting between members and others key players of the Remittance industry on 27 March 2012 at the Grand Midwest Hotel, Dubai. This has become a major issue as a number of IAMTN’s members have had their accounts closed or are finding it impossible to open bank accounts.

Despite an increasingly vigilant global regulatory environment for money transfer companies, which has resulted in robust procedures in respect of anti-money laundering, it has become much harder for remittance companies to open bank accounts in many countries around the world. By working in a constructive manner with the key stakeholders, especially banks, we are hopeful of developing a set of solutions that will resolve this major challenge.  IAMTN’s intention is to develop a ’win-win’ solution through a mixture of education, awareness raising and dialogue. For this reason IAMTN is pleased to advise that the next Global Remittances Working Group meeting will be on 14th October and will include a contribution from IAMTN in the areas of barriers to access for the efficient operation of remittances. In other words we are going to raise awareness of the difficulties of obtaining bank accounts etc. We will, of course, keep our member updated but this is the best forum for us to raise the issue and also to begin practically tackling the issue. This subject will also be presented at IAMTN’s annual Summit. Don’t miss this 2012 Summit. Register now.

2011 was by far the most wide-ranging and informative conference that we have held to date and 2012 promise even more. The event is open to members and non-members alike and attracts delegates from across the world that come not only to hear from our fantastic array of speakers but also to meet their fellow industry partners.

The purpose of the conference is to inform the money transfer operators, banks, foreign exchange houses, technology providers and other delegates of the trends that we are seeing and anticipating in the money transfer market. We have an exceptional list of speakers who will cover items ranging from the big trends that are affecting the global environment for payments, the review of the PSD, new methods of making payments, social media right through to the nitty-gritty of anti-money laundering.  In a well-balanced agenda there will be a day of plenary sessions as well as a day of workshops. In addition, the coveted IAMTN awards will be presented to the deserving winners.
