August Songwriter Tournament Announced

Indie music Website TuneFlow.com has announced their August “tune tournament.”

The rules are simple. The tournament is open to all musicians, but all entries must be new, original compositions based on one of the four following titles (the entry deadline is 7/31/06):

- The Truth Comes Out
- Summer Lover
- Stone Cold Lie
- Superman

Throughout August, TuneFlow members will rate the entries. A “leader board” is provided so that artists can see how their songs are doing day to day.

iPod owners will be fans of the tournament, too, because all entries will be available for free downloading during August.

At the end of August, the artists with the highest-average-rated songs will be awarded cash, prizes, and recognition. Recognition goes to the artists with the top songs for each of the four titles and also to the “best-of-genre” winners in 14 different music genres.

Why a tournament? TuneFlow creator, Gery Carson, explains:

“It’s always fun to compete against your peers. We’ve also set up the tournament so that even brand new bands can compete on a level playing field with experienced bands. With digital music recording software today such as Apple’s GarageBand, almost anyone with a song in their head can create a quality recording. Our tournament provides a fun and exciting outlet for these budding songwriters!”

“Our tournament is a great way for bands to get their music exposed to new people. And it’s also a great way to hone your songwriting skills because each time your song gets rated, there’s also a review included that provides valuable feedback.”

“Of course, our members who rate the songs love it too because they get to sample fresh new music in a wide variety of genres and styles. Plus they get to decide who wins the tournament.”
