The Ford Fiesta and Mondeo prepare to debut

WEBWIRE

In time to start taking orders for 2013, Ford is preparing to show off its new Ford Mondeo and Ford Fiesta models, both of which have been revamped for the new year. Looking as stylish on the outside as they are comfortable on the inside, and as powerful under the bonnet, both the new Fiesta and Mondeo make promises of fuel efficiency and environmentally-friendly running that they certainly keep.

In the new Mondeo, drivers are sure to be impressed by the smooth 123bhp and carbon emissions levels of just 125g/km – all produced by a tiny engine of just 1.0-litre. In fact, the new Mondeo is the world’s first modern-era family vehicle that uses such a small engine, making it the perfect choice for those who need to transport a carful of passengers but want to watch the pennies when it comes to refuelling.

Outside, the new Mondeo boasts a striking profile that incorporates sleek lines with contemporary curves. In the spacious cabin, it retains its great handling - which is enhanced by fuel-saving power steering that’s smooth and confident. On the dashboard, the comprehensive infotainment panel includes Ford SYNC and MyTouch systems, whilst the comfortable cabin is ideal for accommodating multiple passengers.

With the new Ford Fiesta, motorists will enjoy all the perks of the existing model with some clever enhancements. The “power-dome bonnet” has been given a curvaceous makeover, whilst LED running light equipped headlights and a bolder grille make a confident statement. Concealed within are Active City Stop – a new low-speed crash avoidance system – and a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine that comes in 99bhp and 118bhp options, with a new 84bhp version also likely to be added.

Inside the cabin, new technology includes the Ford SYNC connectivity that allows Bluetooth and USB devices to interact with the entertainment system, as well as the innovative MyKey system that permits drivers to configure their Fiesta to match their preferences in speed, audio volume, driver aids and ESP. There’s also a clever safety system that only allows the audio system to function once all seatbelts have been fastened.

The new Ford Mondeo is set to be released in the autumn of 2013, with prices yet to be announced. Meanwhile, the new Ford Fiesta will debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September, with sales starting from January 2013. Prices are expected to start from around £10,000 for the basic model up to £17,000 for the impressively sporty ST model.
