New free and easy-to-use tools for conflict minerals compliance

New and free tools based on open and published schema for conflict minerals compliance

Complying with Conflict Minerals regulations will be vastly easier and less costly using the latest version of MRPRO and the EICC-GeSi template both licensed for free by the EICC (Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition). Several members of this organization with representatives from companies such as Apple, HP, Intel, Seagate, Qualcomm, IBM, Microsoft and other companies have been diligently working at this. Having been through one whole round of data gathering last year, they further honed the EICC-GeSi template while consulting and cooperating with other companies, industry organizations and trade groups to reflect more exactly the needs for information tracking through the supply chain. In conjunction with this, the MRPRO dashboard that is licensed for free distribution through the EICC to facilitate easier supply chain communication and tracking, and lower costs for doing that, was also updated. The significant new features are:

(1). Single click loading of all supplier information in a masterlist panel to directly evaluate supplier compliance in a highly visual manner.
(2). The template and dashboard can be worked on desktop or in the cloud/web (if server installation is enabled).
(3). Single click direct export of single or multiple supplier files from spreadsheet format to XML. Thus database support is natively built in.
(4). An open and published XML schema that very closely aligns with the IPC 175x series of standards, bar only for elements that the 175x does not currently have. Simple extensions have been used to extend existing 175x schema elements in most cases.
(5). Easy searching through supplier submittals and rollups of supplier information for downstream reporting and searches.
