Ford lifts the lid on the Fiesta and Mondeo for 2013

The new Ford Fiesta and Ford Mondeo are guaranteed to turn heads – for all the right reasons – when they hit roads across the UK in 2013. With Ford recently unveiling its new-look Fiesta and Mondeo models, it’s never been a better time to invest in one of the staples of the global automotive market – especially with new fuel-saving and emissions-reducing technology on board.

On the outside, Ford has largely retained the popular profile of the previous Fiesta, with the addition of LED running light equipped headlights, a bolder grille and a “power-dome bonnet”. The interior has enjoyed similarly subtle improvements, whilst still retaining the interesting and user-friendly features that current Fiesta owners enjoy. The cabin remains one of the most comfortable and enjoyable in its class. The interior shows off impressive new technology, including Ford SYNC connectivity that allows Bluetooth and USB devices to interact with the entertainment system. With the MyKey technology, each driver can preset the Ford Fiesta to their own preferences – configuring elements such as maximum speed, audio volume limits, driver aids and ESP to suit each motorist. It’s a great feature for multiple drivers of the same car, and there’s also a clever security feature that mutes the audio system until all seatbelts have been fastened.

The technology under the bonnet is just as exciting: rival models will have to work to keep up with the Fiesta’s new low-speed crash avoidance system, Active City Stop, whilst the heart of the car beats to the pulse of a 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine that’s available in 99bhp and 118bhp options, with a new 84bhp version also likely to be added.

Meanwhile, the new Ford Mondeo will debut as the world’s first modern-era family vehicle that’s powered by an impressively-tiny 1.0-litre engine. Despite its diminutive size, the Ecoboost engine will produce just 125g/km of carbon emissions and a smooth 123bhp.

Inside, the new Mondeo will feature fuel-saving power steering that enhances the Mondeo’s already enjoyable handling and sharp steering. The interior incorporates a comprehensive infotainment control panel that’s user-friendly, alongside the Ford SYNC and MyTouch systems which allow the driver to interact with their car like never before. Outside, the striking shape of the new Ford Mondeo makes it a real head-turner that glides through the streets with poise and precision.

The new Ford Fiesta will debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September, with sales starting from January 2013. Prices are expected to start from around £10,000 for the basic model up to £17,000 for the impressively athletic ST model.

The new Mondeo is set to be released in Autumn 2013, with prices yet to be announced.
