A possible new entry to the top 10: Max Damage and the Alien Attack

A strong contender for a famous top 10 casino games list – the first arcade style slot from Microgaming, Max Damage and the Alien Attack.

Microgaming has launched their first ever arcade-style slot game, Max Damage and the Alien Attack, and it deserves to be added to anyone’s top 10 casino games.

Max Damage and the Alien Attack is a sort-of slot game set in space. Max Damage, the game’s hero, must shoot down alien ships, in particular the big and bad boss ships, to defend his universe, while avoiding getting shot down himself. The player progresses through the game as they would in a traditional arcade game, by progressing up levels the more ships and boss ships they shoot down. The further up the player gets, the meaner and bigger the boss ships get, with the last and deadliest one standing in between Max Damage and saving the universe, plus winning the game.

If the concepts of this game don’t thrill, and they should, there are many other charms to Max Damage and the Alien Attack Arcade Game. For one, it is an entirely unique experience. Unlike the microgaming slots that have gone before, this one is designed to resemble an arcade game, with a vertically-oriented screen down which the enemy ships creep towards Max Damage (the player) in the foreground.  This has never been done in a Microgaming slot before and this alone is worth a look see. Players will also see none of the familiar bonuses and features, such as wilds, scatters and free spins. Instead, bonuses come in the form of ‘freebies’ - health and shield boosters and weapons and missiles upgrades to help Max Damage hang onto his six lives as long as possible, and so defeat more aliens.

Besides this, the game is stunning visually, with the blues and greens of both the intergalactic backdrop and the enemy ships contrasting well with the bright red and white of Max Damage’s ship. Just visible below Max’s craft is the familiar outline of planet Earth, while twinkling stars surround the action in the centre of the screen, where Max takes on the bad guys.
Despite the unconventional format of the game, there is still a fair bit of money to be made on Max Damage and the Alien Attack as well, with up to 10 coins allowed and a ‘multiplier’ of up to 4x in the Freebies bonus feature level.

Whether playing for the payouts, for the visual feast, for the engrossing challenge of a new game or for the pleasure of experiencing something completely different, Max Damage and the Alien Attack delivers. Hopefully, Microgaming will make more arcade games just like it.
