PORTLAND, Oregon (September 6, 2012) - In anticipation of his debut novel, author Harvey Hiestand is releasing a short story, The Solo Show, free on Kindle, PC, Mac, and iPad through Sunday, September 9.

The Solo Show details the on-air broadcast of Nick Sampson, a man who believes he witnessed the rapture.  He has gone weeks without seeing another person and sinks into depression, alcohol abuse and prescription drug use.

Regarding the story, Hiestand states, “In fiction, we often see people looking deep within themselves to find the power to overcome their weaknesses - they find bravado, or patience, or the capacity to endure their troubles.  In real life, people break down, they slip and fall, they become desperate, pitiful creatures.  Nick Sampson is one of these types - and I think many can relate to it. ”

Starting Monday, September 10, The Solo Show will be offered on Kindle for 99 cents and in print for $5.99.

Harvey Hiestand’s debut novel, Funny Blue Necklace, is scheduled for release in January, 2013.
