Parents Statewide Learn About the Dangers of the Internet

CARLSBAD, CA, 03/01/2005 -- i-SAFE America, a non-profit Internet safety foundation, partners with the Ohio PTA Board of Directors, to spread the word about the dangers online to parents statewide.

“We are proud to partner with Ohio’s PTA to bring awareness to local parents about the dangers their children face online,” said i-SAFE CEO and president Teri Schroeder. “Parents play the most critical role in a child’s responsible use of the Internet -- our goal is to make it easy for them to be a part of this experience.”

The Ohio PTA Board of Directors will promote the i-SAFE i-Parent program to PTA members statewide through the Ohio PTA News, leadership training opportunities and the Summer PTA Unit Packet. The promotion will be the springboard for launching the i-Parent Internet safety campaign in individual PTAs.

The i-Parent program is a growing movement of parents, educators and community leaders who are advocating Internet safety through the use of i-SAFE’s free student curriculum and parent materials. The program equips parents with the i-Parent Toolkit to help educate others about Internet safety. The i-Parent Toolkit includes a true-life story video, scripted PowerPoint® presentations, fact sheets, and more. To enroll in the i-Parent Campaign, visit www.isafe.org or send an email to outreach@isafe.org.

“We are very impressed with i-SAFE’s i-Parent program, and we’re excited they are joining us to promote the importance of Internet safety to PTAs statewide,” said Barbara Sprague, Ohio PTA Executive Director. “Parents must learn about the dangers online so they can protect their children by educating them on the ways to avoid becoming a victim.”
