New Hope For Single Moms Dating Men With No Kids

For many single moms, dating men with no kids has seemed the worst of all possible catches, but could this man’s eye view restore women’s hope for finding new love?

For many single moms, dating men with no kids has seemed the worst of all possible catches.  What could a man without children possibly know about parenting?

Dating is daunting enough for single moms; they need commitment to both themselves and their children from an early stage and consequently, many choose to remain single until the children have flown the nest.  A significant number of those end their days as lonely spinsters.

Single moms, more than other women, consider dating emotionally high risk because most have been hurt by a broken relationship, or, if they are a single mom by choice, this is often because they have seen the pain relationships can cause, perhaps at home.

This leads many single moms to feel they are stuck in an “either/or” situation when it comes to re-entering the dating scene: find a relatively dull but stable man who will “settle down” quickly, (meaning he probably has had kids), or live a loveless life.

According to British self help expert, Trevor Emdon there is another way. Single moms can have “both/and” it turns out.  “Women consider themselves out of the dating game once they have children, as if interesting men without kids will no longer find them attractive as women,” he says.

The problem frequently stems from the huge hit a woman takes to her belief in herself as attractive to men once the father of her children leaves, according to Emdon’s thinking.  What is disregarded, or simply not considered, is that the reasons for his leaving were to do with his insecurities.  Women tend to assume they are to blame, and the tragic result is often years without adult love.

Trevor Emdon’s advice to single moms is, “Rebuilding your self esteem as a woman - not just as a mother - is paramount.  Have fun with that.”  And to men with no kids who may date a single mom he suggests: “You aren’t there to replace Daddy for the kids.  You’ve been invited in to love Mommy first - and then to befriend the children - in that order.”

Trevor Emdon, who is happily married and has a grown up son, is the creator of many self help programs (http://wizardofwisdom.com) and his recovery program for those afraid to return to dating can be found by visiting this link.
