On October 20, 2012 UFC Hall of Famer, the legendary Royce Gracie will be conducting a seminar at John Geyston’s Martial Arts Academy located at 3231 West Iles Springfield Illinois 62711.  The seminar is open to the general public for a meet and greet from 10 am to 11 am. Seminars will also be taught for both youth and adults.  Youth are at 9 am to 10 am,  Adult seminar is a 3 hour format  from 11 am to 2 pm.

Royce Gracie changed the fighting culture of America by introducing his families style of Jiu Jitsu with his first appearance at UFC in November 1993 to the dismay of his opponents in this eight-man, tournament format event. UFC 1 had no weight classes, no judges, no time limits and no rules. Royce Gracie went on to win the UFC tournaments, defeating three opponents in one night and at the same time stunned fight fans  with submission holds never seen before.

Today Royce Gracie continues to spread the techniques developed by his father Grandmaster Helio Gracie through seminars and classes all over the world.

“We are excited to have Royce Gracie  at our academy, It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our members and the Springfield Illinois martial art community” claims John Geyston owner and head instructor of JGMAA.
