Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake Dominates 100m London Olympics 2012

The 2012 London Olympics recently heated up with the men’s 100 meter event at the stadium where Usain Bolt won the gold medal with an amazing time of 9.63s setting a new Olympic record. In the last Beijing 2008 Olympics, Bolt won the gold for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. He is expected to repeat that feat in this year’s Olympics in London with the Jamaican team. Nicknamed the ’Lightning Bolt’, he is one of the main attractions for the track and field event that millions will be watching. Bolt is also the first man to win 3 sprinting events in a single Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984. On top of that he managed to set 3 world records in the Beijing Olympics at the same time.

In 2009, Bolt won the World Championship in both the 100m (in 9.58s) and 200m (in 19.19 secs) making him the first man to ever hold both the world and Olympic title at the same time.

Meanwhile, his fellow team mate and countrymen Yohan Blake has also been catching up. He is currently the youngest sprinter who has broken the 10 second barrier when he was only 19 years old. In 2011, Blake won the World Championship in the 100m for the gold medal in 9.92s becoming the youngest world champion surpassing Carl Lewis. This was also due to the fact that Bolt was disqualified in the same event for a false start. The London 2012 Olympics is the first Olympics for Blake.
