Lookers Mercedes-Benz recently hosted 68 guests at the annual MercedesTrophy Golf Tournament, with representatives taking part in the first round at Lingfield Park Golf Course in Surrey. The dealership has put forward two teams this year, competing against golfers from other regional Mercedes-Benz dealers for the coveted trophy.

Mercedes-Benz holds the tournament every year, giving employees the chance to display their golfing skills and to raise money for national charities. Regional MercedesTrophy competitions are held in more than 60 countries, attracting tens of thousands of entrants across the world as well as plenty of spectators.

Australian professional Rebecca Artis, who recently placed second at the Swiss Open, joined competitors at the event. Players competed individually for a spot in the second round, representing the Mercedes-Benz Kent and Mercedes-Benz Sussex/Surrey teams. A brief spell of rain did little to dampen the spirits of those present, and one golfer from each handicap category emerged victorious to move forward in the competition.

A representative of Mercedes-Benz Golf said: “We’re proud to host this popular golf tournament each year. The charities that we support benefit from the contributions of attendees, and we’d like to thank everyone who took part.”

The day was a success on several fronts, as the attendees helped to raise a grand total of £1,035 for the NSPCC. The winning golfers from each team go on to the semi-finals, which will be held at New Zealand Golf Club, Surrey, on Thursday, August 2. The tournament final will take place at St Andrews Golf Course in Scotland later in the year.
