New Acupuncture Courses Approved by the California Board

WEBWIRE

The California Acupuncture Board has recently approved four new courses for continuing education credits.  The courses are offered by the Integrative Healing Society www.ihsociety.com and include online acupuncture courses and a two-week China tour.  The online courses are based on the book Meridian Circuit Systems: A Channel Based Approach to Pattern Identification.

In the online acupuncture course, Meridian Circuit Systems, a unique method of doing pattern identification is taught that is based on the connections between the meridians.  In this system there are 15 major syndromes that are associated with the various meridian pairs.  For liver patterns that affect the stomach or intestines we may identify a jue yin – yang ming pattern.  Likewise, for stomach and bowel conditions that occur with spleen and lung imbalances we may identify a yang ming – tai yin pattern.  The advantages of using this system are that it allows for greater diagnostic efficiency while minimizing the total number of acupuncture needles used in a treatment.

In the online course Meridian Circuit Systems and Zang-Fu Patterns, the author shows how traditional zang-fu patterns correspond with the 15 major meridian patterns.  This course also elaborates on how Master Tung’s acupuncture points may be used and integrated into a clinical practice.

For those interested in studying in China a tour to Hangzhou will be offered in October.  This is a two-week intensive that includes 50 hours of clinical internship in specialty clinics.  Participants in this tour may choose to study acupuncture or herbal medicine and will receive 30 continuing education credits.
