By many accounts, mud/obstacle racing is presently the fastest growing sport in America. Three of the more popular races, the Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, and Warrior Dash attract thousands of competitors from all around the United States each weekend. Competitors wade through mud, jump over fire, climb over walls, crawl under barbed wire, in addition to many other feats of strength - often while running up and down steep, treacherous terrain. Once you commit to training and sign up to participate in one of these ‘mud runs’, it almost always turns into an addiction. Run of the mill 5k’s and 10k’s just seem so mundane and tedious afterwards without a fire-pit to leap over at the finish line.
Up until now, the only way for ‘mudders’ to connect with one another (either pre or post race) was via the Facebook pages of the respective race organizer, or forums dedicated to the organizer of the race you ran (often filled with spam). MudMob.com looks to fill that void by providing racers and would-be first timers a central place to meet and socialize with one another. Racers can search for others who may be running in the same race as themselves, share training tips, post photos, organize personal events via a community calendar, and much more. MudMob.com membership is free with the current beta version already quickly attracting members from a variety of mud races and regions across the United States.
