Manchester Minglers Manage Major Milestone

In just three short years, Social Circle has grown from being a modest community meetup to becoming the UK’s number 1 social and activity group, offering over 100 free events to its members every month.

Launched in 2007, Social Circle has brushed off the global economic downturn to see its numbers soar, reaching over 2000 current members this year. And this success shows no signs of slowing.

Social Circle’s founder, Steve Sutherland, puts the group’s continued growth down to its openness to diversity. “From the group’s beginning as a regular meetup in Didsbury, Social Circle’s concept has always been to bring together like-minded people who just want to get out there and live life to the full. Maybe they’ve been recently divorced, or their friends are all married off, or they’re new to the area - your background doesn’t matter. Social Circle brings everyone together and gives them the opportunity to meet, make new friends and enjoy as many of our weekly events as they like.”

Another major attraction of membership is the broad range of events provided. Whether you’re into rock climbing and snowboarding or prefer wine tasting and salsa dancing, Social Circle arranges over one hundred different activities for its members every month, many of them free to attend.

Following the rapid growth of the Manchester group, Steve sees no reason to stop there as he lays plans for further expansion into neighbouring cities and beyond. With an eye on Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield, Social Circle could soon become the standard by which all other groups are led. Steve certainly hopes so. “Why should Manchester have all the fun?” he asks. “The members are the ones who really make Social Circle what it is, and our close relationship with them means we’re able to respond to their needs and suggestions quickly. So taking Social Circle to new cities means that instead of working to a strict formula, we can tailor the local experience to give our members whatever they want.”

On Sunday July 29th, Social Circle returns home for its Summer Barbecue at Albert Tennis Club in West Didsbury. Open to all, full details can be found at www.social-circle.co.uk
