Maryland Anger Management Now Offering Group Classes
(Bethesda, MD July 16, 2012) Psychologist and anger management expert Dr. Joe James has announced that he will be offering group classes starting August 12, 2012.
For the past 10 years Dr. James has only worked on a one on one basis with his anger management. Dr. James has cited two reasons for this new offering: 1) the demand for anger management in the Washington, D.C. area has seen a large growth in the last several years and; 2) it provides those with low incomes or no health insurance an affordable and convenient way to receive treatment.
Dr. James cited growing recognition of the court system of the value anger management can offer as part of the reason for the rising demand for anger management classes. “The legal system appears to be recognizing that incarcerating an individual for an assault or domestic violence charge may serve as punishment but it doesn’t address the reason the person committed the crime in the first place which makes it all the more likely that the individual will commit the crime again,” explained Dr. James. “Anger management classes offer a cost effective way to address the problem and provide the individual with the help s/he truly needs,” he continued.
Dr. James’ one on one classes have been accepted by virtually every court system in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and it is expected that the same will hold true for the group classes. The anger management classes will total 8 hours in length spread out over 4 two-hour meetings.
