L.J. Star Publishes Datasheet on Sight Flow Indicator

Twinsburg, Ohio – June 10, 2012 – L.J. Star has published a detailed datasheet on its Standard Visual Flow Indicator, available at http://www.ljstar.com/products/product.aspx?ProductID=30&pl=5. The datasheet is intended to aid process engineers in the selection of the appropriate sight flow indicator for an application. The eight-page datasheet describes both flange-mount and threaded units, available styles, materials of construction, and safety features, as well as describing another type of flow indicator, the Full View Visual Flow Indicator. Having all styles and types covered in one datasheet allows for easy comparisons and simplifies the selection process.

The Standard Visual Flow Indicator is available in different styles, each of which are explained.

·         The Plain Style is used to observe either the presence of process fluids and to observe fluids for color and clarity.

·         The Rotator Style indicates flow in any direction with a rotor that spins in the direction of flow.

·         The Drip Tube Style is well suited for applications characterized by low or intermittent flow rates, such as distillation.

·         The Flapper Style indicates the direction of flow with a hinged indicator flap.
Furthermore, the suitability of each style depends on the direction of flow (horizontal, vertical, upward or downward) and the opacity/transparency of the process gas or fluid.

The datasheet lists nine sizes for the flanged and five sizes for the threaded or weld-type models, for each 150 psi and 300 psi versions. In addition, the flow indicator bodies may be ordered in various steel alloys and the gaskets may be ordered in several different materials.
