July 3rd;  Atlanta GA, Montreal and Birmingham UK   Vector Networks announces v12 of its long-standing PC-Duo® PC remote control tool. PC-Duo is established in IT infrastructure support roles such as PC User Support and Remote Server Management, and also in safety critical 24/7 duties such as Distributed Process Control and Gas Pipeline Monitoring. The international installed base reflects the product’s reputation for flexibility, performance and reliability. Remote control sessions are supported across VPN, WAN and internet infrastructures including slow lines and satellite links as well as conventional high bandwidth local LAN connections. As well as conventional PCs and Servers, PC-Duo also provides remote control for sessions running on Citrix and MS Terminal Services servers.

V12 introduces Web service implementations of the Master and Gateway components. For users of the Master component, such as support analysts and server management specialists, this means that they can initiate a PC-Duo remote control session from anywhere. The administration of security settings and many other aspects of the product are now managed through the new Web Console and Gateway.

Daniel Martz, head of Customer Support at Vector’s Montreal office, and something of a PC-Duo expert, observes - “Often a new release of a product brings increased complexity, but with v12 PC-Duo it has become easier and more streamlined for a mobile support analyst to create a remote control session to a problematic system. Simply log on to the PC-Duo Web Console, select a tab in the UI and then single click the problem system in the list of available remote systems; that’s all it takes. Meanwhile, whoever is responsible for managing the PC-Duo server installation can do so from anywhere through Administrator status logon to the same Console.

”Erick Yanez, Vector’s VP Development, remarks – “PC-Duo is no different from other infrastructure management products in terms of the inexorable shift toward Web-based or Web-enhanced architectures. The new Web-based Master integrates smoothly into our HelpDesk and Issue Tracker Consoles, and into the new Web Portal for our IT Asset Manager Pro solution.”
