Swedish Communications Company Deploys E320, SDX Service Deployment System and Security Solutions to Upgrade Broadband Access Network

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 27, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that Telge Energi, a utility-based, government-owned communications provider in Sweden, has deployed the E320 Broadband Services Router and the SDX-300 Service Deployment System to create its new broadband access network for the delivery of Triple Play services to residential, corporate and public sector customers throughout the Södertäjle region of Sweden. The network is secured by the Juniper Networks ISG-1000 with integrated intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) system, and was deployed by Juniper’s local partner, Imtech Telecom. Telge Energi maintains a broadband access network that provides its customers with access to multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) offering a range of advanced IP-based services including Internet/email, television (IPTV), video on demand, telephony (VoIP) and online gaming; and Telge also provides its own broadcast TV content. Telge will use the E320 and SDX-300 combination to enable end-use customers to conveniently select and self provision services from a wide range of ISPs and network-based applications.

“In this dynamic environment, the ability for subscribers to self-provision their chosen services is a huge competitive advantage for us and the E-series and SDX have a proven performance and reputation in similar service provider environments throughout Europe,” said Mikael Stenqvist, technical director at Telge Energi. “This solution enables us to confidently and efficiently provide automated self-provisioning to our subscribers, and to ensure that wirespeed access to the bandwidth-intensive broadband services we offer is maintained without compromising security.”

Telge services are delivered to both corporate and residential customers using Ethernet and fiber to the building, so the company is deploying E320s with Gigabit Ethernet line modules. The E320 supports industry-leading Gigabit Ethernet density, which helps decrease the average deployment cost per subscriber. Scaling to 320 Gbps of capacity, and with support for up to 128,000 individual subscribers, the E320 provides an ideal platform for delivering multimedia broadband services such as IPTV, video on demand and IP telephony.

The SDX-300 is a standards-based platform-shipping for 6 years-that delivers subscriber, service and resource management for DOCSIS and IP networks, enabling Juniper’s customers to increase revenue opportunities and reduce operating costs. Deployed in over 50 networks worldwide, over 8 million end-use customers now rely on the advanced service management capabilities of the SDX-300. “The E320 is the industry’s first broadband services router to be designed specifically for the delivery of Triple Play services to residential and corporate customers,” said Gert-Jan Schenk, vice president of operations, EMEA, Juniper Networks. “Coupled with the ISG-1000’s innovative integration of IDP capabilities, we are providing Telge Energi with an agile, open and scalable network, and enabling them to deliver highly customizable services to their customers.”
