A key function of the ISHM is to promote the advancement of safety and health management through the application of management principles and the integration of safety and health into all levels and activities of management.  The ISHM identifies professionals through its certification programs that understand the role of the safety function in providing valuable support to organizations.  These certification programs include the Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) and the Associate Safety Health Manager (ASHM) certifications.

To continue the growth and mission of the ISHM, the organization has announced a new opportunity for other certified professionals within these fields to obtain the prestigious CSHM certification.

From June 20th until August 20th of 2012, professionals with qualified existing certifications can apply for the CSHM certification with discounted rates and a streamlined process.  The qualified certifications include:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse-Specialist (COHN-S)

“This is a tremendous opportunity for these professionals who have distinguished themselves by obtaining these select certifications to expand their level of recognition with the CSHM certification,” reported Larry Curtis, CSHM, Executive Director of ISHM.  “Professionals holding the approved certifications and meet the ISHM’s requirements will be offered a streamlined application process.  The ISHM will only need the application and the qualifying existing certification number.  No references, transcripts and work history are needed.”

During this special offer the normal application fee of $100 for U.S. applicants and $200 for international applicants will be waived.  The CSHM exam, which normally costs $181, will also be offered for just $125 for qualified applicants.
