Cape Coral, Florida – The Cape Coral Cardboard Boat Regatta was a huge success this year thanks in part to Advance Solar and Spa who supplied most of the cardboard that was used by the participants.  Every April Advance Solar and Spa donates a majority of the cardboard that is used in the Boat Regatta saving participants time and money.

The executive leadership team at Advance Solar and Spa becomes involved in many community activities by donating time and resources on a regular basis.  The company saves the cardboard from the material they use throughout the year and make it available to help event participants reuse and recycle the material for building boats.

By donating a majority of the cardboard for the event, Advance Solar and Spa empowers more community members to participate by keeping their construction costs down.  Many organizations express a desire to participate but the event can oftentimes be cost prohibitive for small businesses and consumer groups so every little bit helps.

The Cardboard Boat Regatta was held in Four Freedoms Park in Cape Coral which overlooks the Bimini Basin.  More than one-thousand fans and family member cheered from the sidelines as they watched and marveled at the creative cardboard contraptions that somehow resisted sinking and made it to the finish line.

Cape Coral resident Gerri Decker has attended the event for three years in a row and this year she toured the boats on display before the event.  She said, “It is fun. I like looking at what people go through to make a boat.”  She plans to attend next year’s event as well.

The Cardboard Boat Regatta is a fundraiser for the Cape Coral Rotary Club which sponsors the event.  The Rotary Club spread the news of the event by handing out thousands of flyers at the yearly Cape Coral Art Festival which also received a good turn-out this year.  Food and drinks where were available for participants and onlookers from vendors who set-up their tents on the sidelines.
