WEBWIRE

Atlanta -- Atlanta Legal Nurse Consultant Liz Buddenhagen says “Greater Augusta AALNC (American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants) has put together a very good program to help nurses, legal nurse consultants and guests better understand the dynamics involved in the legal process of medical malpractice lawsuits.”

Details on the Mock Trial:

The program will be held at Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Georgia, from 11 AM to 5 PM on Saturday, June 23, 2012 and will begin with a networking lunch and include a mock trial and deposition preparation led by plaintiff attorney Derek White, J.D. of The White Law Group in Pooler, Georgia, and Julye Johns, J.D. of Huff, Powell & Bailey in Atlanta, Georgia, a defense medical malpractice attorney.

There will also be a presentation to educate the nurses on the role of an expert witness in a medical malpractice lawsuit. This program will benefit the clinical nurse who could be potentially  involved in a legal proceeding both as a defendant and as an expert witness.

About Greater Augusta AALNC:

The Greater Augusta AALNC is a non-profit professional legal nurse chapter of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC). The purpose of the group is to network and educate legal nurse consultants, the medical community and the legal field regarding medical legal issues.

The group educates legal nurse consultants through webinars and in person programs. “Our group reaches the Central Savannah River Area nurses in person and our online programs reach both local and rural legal nurses who may not live within driving distance to attend programs in person,” said Buddenhagen.

We are honoring requests by middle Georgia and south Georgia legal nurse consultants to visit the Macon area to facilitate their attending an in-person program.

Greater Augusta AALNC provided an all day in person seminar on March 1, 2012 for the Georgia medical community entitled “Avoiding Medical Malpractice Lawsuits,” a risk management program directed to doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who are clinically active.

The legal nurse consultants work hand in hand with both plaintiff and defense attorneys to analyze and assist with the medical issues in the medical negligence suits. The nurses analyze medical records, create timelines, locate expert witnesses and submit summaries and reports on medical malpractice, personal injury, criminal, product liability, and any case that involves medical issues.
