If your boss is called Leo or Brenda then it looks like you could be more likely to be involved in an accident claim, if the findings of a new report are to be believed. According to figures from Simply Business, based on the claims data of nearly 250,000 businesses, Leo and Brenda are the most accident prone business names in the UK.

The numbers showed that 7.7 per cent of business owners called Leo had to make a claim on their business insurance last year, with 6.3 per cent of bosses called Brenda also pursuing claims. These figures are well above the national average, which currently sits at around 1.6 per cent.

As well as Leos, male bosses named Desmond, Perry and Giuseppe were much more accident prone than others, and if you have a female boss called Gaynor, Naomi, June or Cheryl you might be seeing more incidents at work than the average employee.
“We conducted this research to investigate any correlations that might exist between people, places and professions in insurance claims behaviour. While we wouldn’t generalise this to all business owners, the results do seem to suggest that certain names can have less luck than others, even if it’s through no fault of their own,” explained Jason Stockwood, chief executive officer of Simply Business.

Laura Morrison, accident at work claims solicitor at Clear Law, said: “This light-hearted survey will certainly get a few giggles from bosses, but also highlights how easy it can be for people to be injured while in the workplace. Clear Law can help all kinds of clients to make accident at work claims, from factory staff to office employees.”

Further findings from the report showed that business owners called Norman and Frances are the most careful in the UK, with Henrys and Hilarys in second place. As well as this, certain sectors appeared to be much safer to work in – businesses with “exceptionally low claims data” included florist and masseurs.
