A recent study conducted for three years reveals Michigan welfare clients support privatization. This support is based on recent data from welfare clients who reported that they should be able to go to other businesses to secure welfare benefits, have choices to apply for benefits, and their desire to apply for benefits at other places than state government.

The study was conducted by Dr. Jennifer Rogers (www.drjrogers.com) who surveyed 119 study participants in Wayne County receiving cash assistance for families, Medicaid, Child Daycare assistance or food assistance. The goal of the study was to identify whether Michigan welfare clients believe that public assistance programs should be privatized through deregulation. Each client who participated in the study, provided written consent and answered questions pertaining to their options as clients, lobby wait times, and the quality of service they receive.
