The Daniels Group Installs Xerox Color 800 Press from Fujifilm

Superior Color, Faster Turnaround Time, Extensive Finishing Options Benefit Customers and Grow Business Opportunities for North Carolina Printer

WEBWIRE

VALHALLA, N.Y., May 21, 2012 – Frost in Asheville, North Carolina?!  The Daniels Group, “Communications Specialists,” installed a new Xerox® Color 800 Press from Fujifilm to their already impressive lineup of commercial printing equipment.  The Xerox 800 offers optional clear dry ink to apply spot or flood creative effects to print jobs.  The Daniels Group calls this special feature “Frost.”

Since opening their doors in 1948, The Daniels Group has helped their customers achieve and often exceed their marketing objectives.  Today they continue to grow and add services as new technologies improve their ability to communicate their customers’ messages in the most creative and cost-effective ways.  Adding the Xerox Color 800 Press was the latest move by The Daniels Group to meet customer demands.  “If we don’t do it, someone else will,” said David Reeves, President.

The Xerox 800 replaced the company’s first digital printing press, originally purchased from a Fujifilm competitor in 2001.  Tom Brennan, Director of Operations for The Daniels Group, saw that “It was time for a change.  Our original digital press was due for replacement and we wanted more -- more productivity, more capability….and more exciting features to offer our customers.”

Brennan and Reeves had specific ideas about where they wanted their next digital press to take them, new business opportunities they wanted to explore and areas for expansion.  “We met with our Fujifilm Digital Solutions Specialist to discuss our growth options,” Brennan said.  Soon after, Brennan and Reeves paid a visit to the FUJIFILM Graphic Systems Division Demo Center in Hanover Park, Illinois.

When Brennan and Reeves saw the Hanover Park Demo Center, they realized that Fujifilm had everything they needed to support their business needs and goals.  “We are a Fujifilm shop, and when we saw how much more Fujifilm had to offer, not just with the Xerox 800 but also with the ability to service all of our conventional press needs as well, we decided to keep it all under one roof,” Reeves said.  “Fujifilm understands our business and our growth goals, and they can provide a full suite of solutions, something our original press provider could not do.”

Fujifilm helped The Daniels Group achieve G7® color certification, ensuring color consistency across all devices in their shop.  The addition of ColorPath® VERIFIED ™ color monitoring solution helped prove to their customers across the country that the color they saw on the proof was the color they would see off the press.

“We have several national retailers we do print work for,” Brennan said, “And color consistency is critical, especially the ability to hit custom corporate colors.  Color and quality were far superior to what we had before, with fantastic resolution.”

The Xerox Color 800 Press provides significant benefits to both printer and customer, saving time and money with quicker turnaround and delivery.  Customers get their jobs back faster and have confidence knowing only one vendor is handling the job.  The Daniels Group maintains control over the entire job and can get jobs off press faster, freeing up press time for more jobs.  “The added finishing capabilities of the Xerox 800 boosted our productivity, reduced turn time and increased control,” Brennan said.

Then there’s “Frost.”  Brennan said, “The clear dry ink is fabulous!  It gives us the ability to do much more than we could do before, and opens up a wide variety of creative effects.  We’re very excited about the prospects for the clear dry ink, and our customers are too.”  The Daniels Group created a special mailing piece to promote the advantages of clear dry ink to their customers and the response was “extremely positive” according to Brennan.

“The 800 is running more than our first digital press, doing more with fewer limitations.  It’s already fueled an expansion into vertical markets, allowing us to offer new products to more customers.  In time, we may see more jobs move from our offset presses to the 800 to meet customer demand for shorter press runs and variable data.  We’re also looking at some short run packaging applications, an idea we got when we visited the Illinois demo center,” Brennan said.

Reeves added, “We see the Xerox 800 as a game changer for us, a real shift in the way we’ll do business.  Fujifilm showed us all of the extra value and benefits we could get with the Xerox 800 and the backing of Fujifilm.  Our relationship with Fujifilm is a true business partnership; you guys do it all well.”
