UVDI recently commissioned a new, world class lamp testing facility to support their goal of providing customers with superior UV disinfection systems. At the company’s headquarters in Valencia, California, the R&D testing laboratory is managed by UVDI’s Director of Technology, Dr. Ashish Mathur.

A key element of UV-C system performance involves understanding UV lamp behavior under a variety of use conditions.  “UVDI’s new lamp testing facility is used to test the effectiveness and efficiency of manufacturers’ UV-C bulbs in conjunction with the power supplies of UVDI’s UV-C systems,” reported Dr. Mathur. “We test all lamp types for specific output over their useful life in our lamp testing laboratory.  Without extensive lamp performance data a UV-C manufacturer can only guess at the performance of their equipment. With our level of testing capability, UVDI maintains industry leadership,” he continued.

Lamp testing is just one of the R&D capabilities employed by UVDI to design and test advanced UV and filtration products. Other R&D assets include wind chill test equipment to simulate HVAC systems, a gas phase filtration and PCO performance test system, UV degradation accelerated test chamber, environmental test chambers and an EMI test cell.

As an ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer that embraces a Six Sigma continuous improvement culture, these testing capabilities are essential for UVDI’s continuing leadership of UV-C and activated carbon filtration technologies across the globe.
