Let’s Get Ready for the “Wake Up & Write!“ Challenge

The popular article submission site, today released more information about their forthcoming "Wake Up & Write" Challenge.

(Thursday, April 19, 2012) York, UK –– The popular article distribution service, today continued the countdown to the “Wake Up & Write” Challenge, which is a one month challenge starting on Monday, April 23.

This is an experiment which involves taking a cue from many professional writers who schedule their writing time for early in the morning. Early risers may take to this challenge quite naturally, but others may need a little help and coaching.

The article submission blog has some tips for learning how to write early in the morning:

The first tip is to set a definite time to wake up and then set an alarm to take this experiment seriously. With this in mind, it is practical to go to bed earlier the night before to get the extra rest.

Decide your writing topic the day before as this is the most daunting part of any article writing project. Take some time the night or day before the writing session to decide on the subject and then gather any information so that, on the writing day, it is possible to just sit down and write with minimal distractions.

Another idea is to take time this week to brainstorm a list of writing topics, enough for the whole month. Then, the day before your writing session, simply select one of the topics.

Prepare a basic outline with information that will be covered in the article. As the writer of the blog states: “It can be messy and disorganized, but the point is that you have collected crucial bits of information that you’d like to include in your article so that you can just sit down and write at the appropriate time rather than trying to think of what information to include.”

Many professional writers use a “writing ritual” to help in the transition to writing mode - it can be as simple as drinking a cup of coffee while reading the morning paper. The ritual gets the writer from sleepy mode through wide awake mode, into writing mode.
