Los Angeles Based Comedian Wins Shorty Award for Usage of Twitter

Stand-Up comedian Matt Walker won the Shorty Award Monday night for best usage of social media by a comedian.

Whittier, CA- March 29, 2012- Stand-Up comedian Matt Walker won the Shorty Award Monday night for best usage of social media by a comedian.
 
The Shorty Awards recognize excellence in content creation on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other forms of social media. Other recipients of 2012 Shorty Awards include Mayor Michael Bloomberg, NASA, The Weather Channel, Justin Bieber, Ricky Gervais, and the Jonas Brothers.
 
Along with Mayor Bloomberg and representatives from NASA, Matt Walker attended the ceremony and gave his acceptance speech while accepting the award. Hosted by Jason Jones and Samantha Bee of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, the event was held at the Times Center in New York City on March 26th.
 
After the ceremony he quipped, “Of all the meaningless accomplishments in my life, wining a Shorty Award came with the coolest trophy. I’m just glad that my jokes on Twitter are being read.”
 
Matt Walker can be found performing regularly at all Southern California comedy clubs, with upcoming dates at the Neon Venus Theater on March 31st and the Jon  Lovitz Comedy Club on April 7th.
