Royal Brompton Announces New Website for Early Detection of Lung Cancers

The Hospital has recently launched a groundbreaking service to help smokers who might be worried about developing lung cancer by detecting the cancer much earlier than previously possible. According to one of the clinic’s Doctors  “up to two thirds of lung cancers are detected at a late stage, where survival rates are low”. According to Doctors, many of these cancers can be treated much earlier, where successful treatment stands a much better chance.

Smoking is solely responsible for some 90% of lung cancers, and assessing a patient’s use of tobacco, family medical history, and in some cases a CT scan, are all part of the detection process.

The new service is called the Lung Cancer Risk Assessment, costs as little as 250 pounds, and is administered via private clinics in London.
