Windmill Leasing recently arranged for a group of looked after children to visit the Worcester Warriors ground to gain an insight into rugby training.

Children and Young Person Support Service (CYPSS) worker Joanne Edwards, accompanied a group of looked after young people from the Midlands-based fostering agency FCA, when they spent a day out visiting the Worcester Warriors ground. Seven children, aged 7 to 12 years old, saw Andy Goode (the team’s fly half) at the local Warriors’ ground to experience rugby training at its best.

The day, an excellent experience for the children and young people, involved the opportunity to try all the training equipment, visit the stands, see the changing rooms and get autographs from the whole team. Joanne Edwards from the FCA Midlands Education department said: “The day was absolutely first class for the children who felt really welcome and were allowed to experience the effort involved in training for high level Rugby matches by a very experienced team.”

Some of the children expressed an interest in rugby and the experience offered them an insight into healthy living which may motivate them to exercise in the future for a healthy lifestyle. Andy Goode of Worcester Warriors was more than happy to devote some time to the youngsters who may become the stars of tomorrow.

Despite the tough image, Rugby is known as ’a Gentlemen’s game’ with complex rules and a real sense of camaraderie that exceeds that of football. The game is very tactical and requires excellent communication on the pitch and a high degree of strength, power and agility. The visiting young people were able to appreciate the lengths the players have to go through to remain in peak condition for a game that is very rewarding to watch and play.

Windmill Leasing, a business car leasing specialist, continues to support Andy Goode and is proud to have developed a link with a great local club that provides inspiration to many fans and supporters including the players of tomorrow.
