High Pollen Counts Afflict Allergy Sufferers as Spring Arrives Early

EMSL Analytical provides pollen counts using advanced testing methods

Spring has come early this year, and most of the east coast has been experiencing high pollen counts as a result. On Monday, Atlanta broke a 13 year pollen count record, with 8,164 particles of pollen per cubic meter, reports CNN.

More than 60 million Americans suffer from allergies, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. For those who are allergic to pollen, this spring will be especially difficult: the mild winter has allowed plants to release pollen much sooner than normal this year, but that does not mean the season will end earlier, according to CNN’s report.

“EMSL Analytical is one of the nation’s largest allergen and indoor air quality (IAQ) testing laboratories,” states Farbod Nekouei, M.S., Laboratory Manager at EMSL. “Our allergen testing helps our clients pinpoint the source of allergens in indoor environments, so they can eliminate them.”

In addition to pollen, EMSL Analytical tests for a diverse range of allergy triggers, including:

•           Mold & Bacteria
•           Dust Mites & Pet Dander
•           Bugs & Rodents
•           VOCs and Formaldehyde
•           Smoke & Particulates
