L.J. Star’s SH Style Sanitary Fitting Promotes Safety and Efficiency
New stainless sanitary fitting provides quick access to pipe joint for easy cleaning and inspection
Twinsburg, Ohio – March 20, 2012 – L.J. Star announced the release of the SH Style Sanitary Clamp, a 316 stainless sanitary fitting specially designed for applications where joint cleanliness, safety and efficiency are vital. These include manufacturing and processing applications involving pharmaceuticals, food/beverage and biotechnology.
Instead of threading or screwing two sections of tubing or pipe together, the sanitary fitting is used to create a crevice-free joint that does not harbor bacteria and can be easily cleaned. Compared with common pipe flange connections, sanitary fittings cost less, offer reduced maintenance costs, and enable quicker, easier access to the joint.
L.J. Star’s 316 stainless steel sanitary fittings are made from investment castings to produce a high-quality, precision fit assembly. All sanitary clamps are CE compliant per the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and the Machinery Directive 98/37/EC.
The SH Style Sanitary Clamp incorporates a two-pin hinge that allows for a more uniform compression on the gasket. L.J. Star has a variety of clamp sizes in stock, ranging from ˝ to 12 inches in both tubing and pipe sizes. The stainless sanitary fitting is available in a two-bolt system with either wing nuts or hex nuts for greater torque control and more compact assembly.
- The standard ergonomic wing nut allows easy hand torquing, while the conventional wing nut provides coverage of the bolt threads. (The conventional style wing nut is also available with a hole for torque assistance and storage.)
- Hex nut options include the standard dome nut, hex nut and spring-loaded dome nut. The spring-loaded dome nut keeps tension on the gasket during expansion and contractions of the ferrules due to temperature fluctuations.
